Biodiversity and citizenship
Among the many events organized in our village, many outings and exhibitions focus on nature and biodiversity.
Over time, the Commune has joined forces with the LPO (League for the Protection of Birds) and the CENCA (Conservatory of Natural Spaces of Champagne Ardennes) which offer their intervention in many activities including:
Association of regional scope, the Conservatory of natural spaces of Champagne-Ardenne works daily to preserve biodiversity.
2014
Information meeting with elected officials of the municipality as part of the Natura 2000 event.
Nature activities with kindergarten and primary classes in Val-de-Vesle

Creation of 2 panels at the entrances to the Marais de Courmelois
Guided walk in the marshes "The fauna and flora of marshes" with a reading by Françoise Jimenez from the company "Attention aux Chiens"

Nocturnal nature outing on amphibians and nocturnal birds of prey in the marshes
Water class for elected officials in Marne with AESN (Seine and Normandy Water Agency)

Visit of the marsh as part of the operation Jardin des mots

The LPO works on a daily basis for the protection of species, the preservation of spaces and for education and environmental awareness.
2008
Study on the Vesle river with the Agende de l'Eau Seine Normandie: "Hierarchy of the sectors of a portion of the Vesle river according to the presence of heritage bird species"
2015-2016
Nature Check scheme: funding by the Regional Council
Creation of a biodiversity space (regional program for schools with a tripartite agreement between the municipality, the region and the LPO)
* All classes: planting a hedge
* GS class: setting up a shelter for hedgehogs and stone walls
* CP class: construction and installation of birdhouses, feeders and bee lodges
* CE1-CE2 class: construction of insect lodges and woven willow huts for bird watching:

* Class of GS: plantations in the pond, manufacture of lodgings for small fauna
* CP class: vegetable garden, planting fruit trees
* CE1-CE2 class: vegetable garden, development of the pond
(pond dug by the town hall and supplied with rainwater from the neighbours' roof)
2017
Realization of a diagnosis of the communal Biodiversity of Val-de-Vesle:
522 species recorded
(208 for fauna, 314 for flora).
2018–2020
Implementation of the Green and Blue Trame program in the municipality of Val-de-Vesle:
1400 m of hurdles,
more than 150 fruit trees of old varieties, a restored pond,
a pond created.
